Mazak’s VARIAXIS i-1050T has won the Main Prize at the “One of the Best 10 Products in Japan in 2015” Awards, held by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Ltd.
The “One of the Best 10 Products in Japan” Awards are awarded by Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun Ltd. to products that are useful in advancing industrial development and strengthening Japan’s international competitiveness, chosen from among products developed and implemented each year by applicant companies. 54 products by 50 companies were submitted for the most recent competition, which was the 58th in its history.
The VARIAXIS i-1050T, which received this award, is a machining center with a five-axis simultaneous milling machine equipped with a highly rigid 50-taper spindle and turning functions (500 min-1). The entire process, from turning to machining, can be completed by a single machine, which greatly shortens production lead times. It can also handle the machining of large items, with a table size 1,050 mm in diameter capable of machining objects up to 1,250 mm in diameter and 900 mm high, and weighing up to 2,000 kg. The built-in CNC unit is equipped with a seventh-generation MAZATROL Smooth X controller with newly developed Corner Smoothness Control, Variable Acceleration Control, and other intelligent features that enable high-speed, high-accuracy machining.
